New York Liberty vs. Toronto Tempo Prediction, Props & Best Bets

The New York Liberty arrive at Bell Centre on Sunday riding genuine momentum. Fresh off their 2026 WNBA Commissioner's Cup championship, won with a 93-85 win over the Las Vegas Aces on June 30, and a season-high 36-point performance from Breanna Stewart in a 99-86 takedown of the Minnesota Lynx on July 3, New York is beginning to look like the well-oiled machine many expected at the start of the season.

Waiting for them in Montreal is an expansion Toronto Tempo side that has been more competitive than most anticipated in their inaugural WNBA campaign. Led by Marina Mabrey, who ranks third in the league with 21.2 points per game, Toronto has won nine of their 22 games and already demonstrated they can make life difficult at home.

Tip-off at Bell Centre is at 3:00 p.m. ET on NBA TV.

Liberty vs. Tempo betting picks and predictions

New York Liberty -6.5 (-110)

The talent gap between these two rosters is substantial, and it has only widened over the course of the season. Stewart is averaging 20.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game and is playing some of the best basketball of her career. Her season-high 36-point outing against the Lynx on July 3 moved her to third all-time in games with at least 30 points, trailing only A'ja Wilson and Diana Taurasi.

Sabrina Ionescu, who battled foot and back injuries to start the year, has now played in each of New York's last eight regular-season games and delivered 26 points in the Commissioner's Cup final to close out the Aces.

Toronto, for all their competitive spirit, allows 92.1 points per game, and New York is putting up 87.7 PPG. The combination of Stewart operating at peak form and Ionescu fully healthy makes this a dangerous visiting squad against a team still finding its footing defensively.

New York won the first meeting by 15 points on their own floor. The line at -6.5 feels generous given the current state of both rosters. Back the Liberty to win and cover in Montreal.

Marina Mabrey Over 20.5 Points (-115)

Even in defeat, Mabrey will produce. The third-highest scorer in the WNBA at 21.2 points per game, she is Toronto's primary offensive engine and the player the Tempo run the bulk of their half-court sets through.

Her 3.5 made three-pointers per game lead the WNBA, and she will face a Liberty defense that, while elite in transition, can be exploited by patient, skilled shot-makers when she gets into her rhythm in isolation situations.

Mabrey has scored at least 18 points in 66.5% of her outings this season and tends to be especially productive in higher-profile matchups where her usage climbs. She just put up 34 against a strong Dallas squad on Friday.

Against a Liberty team that will dominate possession and force the Tempo to take quick shots in transition, Mabrey's role as the team's go-to scorer becomes even more pronounced as she hunts her own offense in half-court sets. Back her to clear 20.5 on her home floor before a passionate Montreal crowd.

Over 177.5 Total Points (-110)

Two of the most trigger-happy offenses in the WNBA share the floor today, and the venue amplifies the case for the Over. New York and Toronto are averaging double-digit three-pointers per game, and only Golden State has more than either squad.

Neither of these teams plays slowly. The Liberty's pace and perimeter shooting create a constant flow of open looks, and when Mabrey is in rhythm and Julie Allemand (5.4 assists per game) is pushing tempo in transition, Toronto can put up points in bunches.

The first meeting between these clubs produced 179 combined points at a Barclays Center that plays nothing like the cavernous Bell Centre in terms of atmosphere, but the offensive profiles of both clubs point to another high-scoring afternoon. Trust the Over in this one.
