Miami star receiver Malachi Toney is one of the top playmakers in the country, but his status is uncertain for this weekend's game against No. 11 Notre Dame in South Bend.
The Heisman candidate is dealing with an ankle injury, which he suffered in practice, and is being evaluated, per CBS and ESPN reports. He has yet to have been ruled out and is expected to attempt to play in the massive game.
Toney makes the No. 1 ranked Canes offense go, and his absence would be felt greatly if he were to miss the game. The 5'11 receiver has 73 receptions for 1,027 yards and 13 touchdowns in eight games. He runs terrific routes, has great hands, and is extremely difficult to bring down after the catch.
If Toney is available, Fighting Irish corner Leonard Moore will be matchup up on him. Moore is the top cornerback prospect in the class and is expected to be selected in the top-10 of the 2027 NFL Draft. He was out for last week's game against Navy, but is expected to play against Miami.
Toney is third on the oddsboard for the Heisman winner on bet365 at +650 odds, behind teammate Darian Mensah (+180) and fellow star receiver Jeremiah Smith (+180).
