The Texas Longhorns are in serious danger of missing the College Football Playoffs this year, with multiple star players popping up on the injury report ahead of a difficult match against Missouri.
Texas, led by quarterback Arch Manning, entered the year as one of the preseason favorites to win the College Football Playoff National Championship. While Manning has not reached the standard required by head coach Steve Sarkisian, the team's overall depth has helped them overcome incredibly difficult opponents.
With an overall record of 6-2 (3-2 in the SEC), Texas is ranked No. 7 in the season's initial College Football Playoff Rankings. They boast impressive victories over Ohio State, Tennessee and Ole Miss, though their two losses came in back-to-back games against unranked Oklahoma and Florida.
Texas will be desperate to avoid a third defeat this week against Missouri—historically a major blow to any team's playoff aspirations—especially as they could be missing several star players across both sides of the ball.
Multiple Texas stars have appeared on the injury report early this week, putting several players at risk of missing Saturday's crucial matchup against No. 18 Missouri. Steve Sarkisian's squad has excellent depth in key areas, but they will not be at full strength if some of their top playmakers are unable to take the field.
Trevor Goosby | Offensive Tackle | Patellar tendon/knee |
Trevor Goosby has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a torn left patellar tendon against Ole Miss on October 24. Following successful surgery, he is still regarded as one of the top offensive tackles for the upcoming 2027 NFL Draft.

Ryan Wingo | Wide Receiver | Shoulder |
Colin Simmons | Edge Rushers | Ankle |
Hollywood Smothers | Running Back | Shoulder & Knee |
Kade Phillips | Cornerback | Groin |
Graceson Littleton | Defensive Back | Knee |
Hollywood Smothers is dealing with significant shoulder and knee injuries, making him doubtful to feature against Missouri. While he is officially listed as week-to-week, growing concerns remain that he could miss the remainder of the season.
Cam Coleman suffered a shoulder injury against Ole Miss and missed practice time before being cleared to play against Mississippi State. Coleman then reaggravated the injury in the second quarter and did not return to the game. He was seen in a sling and street clothes during the second half and is officially questionable to play on Saturday against Missouri.
Ryan Wingo also suffered a shoulder injury against Mississippi State and is questionable to play on Saturday. The full extent of Wingo's injury is not yet known, but he is currently considered day-to-day. While he could miss Saturday's game, he is not expected to be sidelined for an extended period.
Star edge rusher Colin Simmons has been dealing with a high ankle sprain suffered in the fourth quarter against Florida on October 17. An MRI confirmed there was no structural damage to the ankle, with an initial recovery timeline of three to four weeks. Simmons has missed Texas's last two games. While his exact status for the Missouri game remains uncertain, reports indicate he is trending toward playing on Saturday.
No. 7 Texas travels to Columbia, Missouri, to take on No. 18 Missouri on Saturday, November 7.
The game will take place at the Memorial Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for noon Eastern Time (12:00 PM).
