Even though the Minnesota Vikings are 6-1 and lead the NFC North, they've hoped for more from quarterback Kyler Murray.
The former No. 1 overall pick has been inconsistent, and he's now dealing with hamstring tightness that leaves his status uncertain for a heavyweight clash against the Buffalo Bills in Week 9.
"[His hamstring] is sore today," head coach Kevin O'Connell said on Monday. "We're going through a full evaluation of that as we work through the day...I'll be able to update you guys on that as we get into the work week this week."
"I don't think we're there yet," O'Connell answered when asked if the hamstring will prevent him from playing this week. "It's still early enough that I'll continue to get updates and then also get the medical staff later today with all these guys. He came in sore...he got initial treatment and then got into meetings."
O'Connell also confirmed Murray's spot on the team as QB1 despite his struggles. The head coach answered with a simple "yes" when asked if Murray would start when healthy.
Murray is officially "day-to-day" with a sore hamstring that he hurt in last week's game vs. the Detroit Lions. In that game, Murray finished 17/29 for 210 yards, two touchdowns, and threw an interception in a 19-15 loss. The Vikings have scored 24+ points just once this season - a Week 1 39-22 victory over the Green Bay Packers with Carson Wentz playing most of the game.
Murray did not practice on Monday or Tuesday. Keep an eye on the Vikings' injury report throughout the week to see if he gets upgraded to being a limited participant ahead of Monday night's game.
In six games this year, Murray has completed 100 of 154 passes for 1,022 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions, while adding another 167 yards on the ground.
