The University of Massachusetts won their first football game since 2024, snapping a 16-game losing streak with an incredible 37-21 upset of Rutgers.
Rutgers was favored by nearly 30 points against UMass, but Pop Watson III and the Minutemen would not step aside. Watson, a transfer from Virginia Tech returned home to Massachusetts and passed for 197 yards and three touchdowns in his first game. The Senior also ran the ball six times for 40 yards.
UMass will have an incredible opportunity to win back-to-back games as they face Sacred Heart on Sunday afternoon. Sacred Heart lost their first game against Monmouth University, 31-24.
