Muhammad vs. Bonfim: betting picks and predictions

Gabriel Bonfim ML (+105)

A classic former champion versus up-and-coming challenger match-up sees Muhammad (24-5-0) face Bonfim (19-1-0).

Muhammad is on a two-fight skid after losing his belt to Jack Della Maddalena last May, before being beaten by Ian Machado Garry last time out in November.

Both of those defeats came over five rounds and ended a ten-fight unbeaten run which saw the American beat Leon Edwards to convincingly claim the title by decision in Manchester in July 2024.

Next month Muhammad will be 38 years old, with the veteran coming up against a fighter almost ten years his junior in Bonfim.

The Brazilian is on a four-fight win streak and was last seen stopping Randy Brown via second round TKO in November.

The 28-year-old also has wins over Stephen Thompson (SD), Khaos Williams (R2 - Sub) and Ange Loosa (UD).

Bonfim is the more explosive fighter and brings a live submission threat with his BJJ, while Muhammad brings plenty of five round Octagon experience and grinding pressure.

The likely bigger early moments will come for Bonfim, with Muhammad expected to stay in the fight and test the Brazilian's resolve.

Bonfim can match Muhammad’s grappling and pick up what would be the biggest win of his career to date.

Over 3.5 rounds (-145)

A strong wrestler with impressive cardio, Muhammad saw eight of his wins in his ten-fight unbeaten streak come via decision.

The 37-year-old's last two defeats have come via the scorecards, with Vicente Luque the last to finish Muhammad inside the distance via a first-round TKO in 2016.

Bonfim is generally a fight finisher, with only two wins over the distance in his career, while his only defeat was a second round TKO to Nicolas Dalby in 2023.

The Brazilian would have to produce something special to finish Muhammad early, with this one expected to go into the championship rounds.
