Super Bowl LX MVP Odds and Previous Winners

Odds to be the Super Bowl MVP in 2026, and a list of every Super Bowl MVP in NFL history.

Since the first Super Bowl following the 1966 season, there has always been a player crowned with the Super Bowl MVP award. This season, the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks players will fight for the award in Super Bowl LX.

Tom Brady has won the most Super Bowl wins as a player with seven, and was crowned the MVP of the game five times.

Chuck Howley is the only player to win the prestigious award while playing on the losing team, after his Dallas Cowboys lost to the Baltimore Colts in 1970. Howley had two interceptions and a fumble recovery in the game.

1977 was the only season that two players were chosen for the award, when Harvey Martin and Randy White were honored as the leaders of the Cowboys defense that forced eight turnovers in the game.

The award has become dominated by quarterbacks in recent memory with seven of the last nine winners playing in that position. This year, Sam Darnold, Drake Maye and Jaxon Smith-Njigba headline the MVP odds leading up to the big game.

Here's a look at the odds for the 2026 Super Bowl MVP:

Sam Darnold (+115) is the favorite to win the Super Bowl MVP in his first appearance in the big game. Darnold has revived his career after being considered a 'bust' just two years ago, and just carved up the Los Angeles Rams' defense in the NFC Championship game for 346 passing yards and 3 touchdowns.

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye (+230) is second in the odds. In his second year in the league, Maye is an MVP finalist and along with head coach Mike Vrabel, took a 4-13 team to a 14-3 record in just one season. Maye has not been great in the playoffs, but has the ability to change a game with his deep ball accuracy.

The 2025/26 NFL Offensive Player of the Year favorite, Jaxon Smith-Njigba (+550) has the third best odds to be the MVP. JSN went off against the Rams for 153 yards and a touchdown in the NFC Championship, and could manage to do the same against the Patriots secondary.

Running backs Kenneth Walker III (+750), and Rhamondre Stevenson (+2800) round out the top-five.

Seattle's rookie safety Nick Emmanwori (+8000) has the best odds of all defensive players. Emmanwori has helped to elevate the Seahawks excellent defense, and has the potential to sack, intercept, and force fumbles against the Patriots offense.

Aside from quarterbacks, the most common positions to win Super Bowl MVP are wide receivers (8) and running backs (7). Five of the seven most recent non-QBs to win the award were receivers.

The most recent such award winner was Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp, who caught eight passes for 92 yards and two scores in his team's 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI. Kupp caught the game-winning score with less than 90 seconds left in the game.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman won the award in Super Bowl LIII despite not scoring a TD, just as Fred Biletnikoff did with the Oakland Raiders in XI.

The first receiver to win Super Bowl MVP was Lynn Swann in the 1975 season's title game, as he caught four passes for 161 yards and a TD that put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter. Fellow WR Biletnikoff won it the following season.

Larry Csonka of the Miami Dolphins was the first running back to win Super Bowl MVP, doing so in the 1973 season's title game with 33 carries, 145 yards, and two scores in a 24-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Pittsburgh Steelers RB Franco Harris won it the next season against the Vikings, carrying the ball 34 times for 158 yards and the first TD of the game.

The only special teams player to win Super Bowl MVP was Green Bay Packers kick/punt returner Desmond Howard, who returned four kicks for 154 yards and the final TD of the game in the 1996 season's championship contest.

A handful of defensive players have won the award, with the most recent being Denver Broncos edge rusher Von Miller. In Denver's 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers in the 2015 season, Miller had 2.5 sacks, six total tackles, two QB hits, one pass defended, and two forced fumbles.
