The No. 6 seed Minnesota Timberwolves upset the Denver Nuggets in six games in Round 1, leading to a matchup against the No. 2 San Antonio Spurs in the second round.
Even being without Anthony Edwards, Ayo Dosumnu, Donte DiVincenzo, and Kyle Anderson, the Wolves managed to knock off Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and the Nuggets in Game 6 at home.
DiVincenzo will be out for the remainder of the season, but the other three should see some action in the upcoming series.
Edwards suffered a bone bruise and a hyperextension to his knee and is questionable for Game 1 against the Spurs. Dosunmu had a calf strain after dropping 43 points in Game 4 and is also questionable for the first game of the second round.
The Spurs, meanwhile, beat the Portland Trail Blazers in five games while also dealing with an injury to their star player. Victor Wembanyama had a concussion in Game 2 and missed all of Game 3, but he did play in games 4 and 5 and will be good to go for Game 1.
The Wolves took two of three games from the Spurs in the regular season, albeit one of those games coming against a Wembanyama-less Spurs team. Still, Minnesota has the size and physicality that will pose plenty of issues for San Antonio's offense.
Stephon Castle's elite defense vs. Edwards' spectacular offense is a matchup to watch on the perimeter, while Wembanyama battling against Rudy Gobert will be the matchup of the series down low.
Game 1 starts tonight, May 4th, at 9:30 PM ET / 8:30 PM CT / 6:30 PM PT. Ahead of the start of the second round, let's take a look at the series odds and lines on bet365:
