Ben Shelton has had a dominant 2026 hard-court season, highlighted by defending his Canada Open title in Montreal without dropping a set. In his first-round match at the US Open he defeated Tallon Griekspoor 1-6, 6-1, 7-6(3), 6-2 Monday night in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Shelton's career best result at the US Open was in 2023, where he lost in the semifinals to Novak Djokovic. With the dominance he has had this season he will be looking to make a deep run at this year's tournament.
Hubert Hurkacz is back in the To 50 for the first time since August 2025 after winning an ATP Challenger Tour title. He entered the US Open at world No. 47 and will look to use his powerful serve and hard-court game to advance deeper into the tournament.
Ben Shelton and Hubert Hurkacz will meet for the first time, a fresh matchup with Shelton arriving in New York as a competitive opponent at the top of his game.
