San Diego Padres continue their three-game series against the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday afternoon at Petco Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET and can be streamed on MLB.TV.
Colorado enters the matchup sitting at the bottom of the National League West, but the Rockies have quietly developed into one of baseball's better offenses against right-handed pitching.
That makes Wednesday's pitching matchup particularly intriguing, as San Diego hands the ball to Griffin Canning, who has endured a miserable season and enters with a 6.97 ERA through 11 starts.
Colorado counters with rookie Gabriel Hughes, who has impressed early in his major league career despite making just his fifth career appearance.
The Padres have controlled this matchup throughout the season, but Canning's struggles leave the door open for Colorado to spring an upset.

Rockies Money Line (+125)
Canning has made 11 starts this season and has recorded a loss in nine of them. He has a 6.97 ERA and an 11.37 over his last two starts.
He gets hit very hard, doesn’t induce chase and walks a lot of batters. His best quality is that he induces ground balls.
The Rockies’ lineup lacks experience against him.
However, the five left-handed bats of Mickey Moniak (.935 OPS vs RHP), TJ Rumfield (.934 OPS vs RHP), Cole Carrigg (.905 OPS vs RHP), Troy Johnston (.833 OPS vs RHP) and Jake McCarthy (.807 OPS vs RHP) all set up well for success, considering Canning has been blasted by left-handed hitters to the tune of a .329 AVG and 1.004 OPS over 146 at-bats this season.
The Rockies as a whole rank fourth in all of baseball in OPS vs RHP (.758), and that’s a yikes for Canning.
Petco Park may not be the most hitter-friendly, but the Rockies' lineup is due to break out, due to do so against the Padres, and this is the matchup for it.
Over 8.5 Total Runs (-105)
If Colorado is going to pull off the upset, it will almost certainly need to score early against Canning.
Fortunately for over bettors, San Diego's lineup is also in a favorable spot.
After struggling to consistently produce offense for much of the season, the Padres have shown signs of life in recent weeks.
In the six games leading into this series, San Diego scored 35 runs in Atlanta and Miami, hitting 10 home runs in that span.
Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. remain the catalysts, while Jackson Merrill, Gavin Sheets and Jake Cronenworth give San Diego plenty of left-handed depth against the inexperienced Hughes, who has allowed a .261 AVG to left-handed batters so far.
While Hughes has been good, pitching to a 2.79 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 19.1 innings, we have only seen him on the road once, and he looked uncomfortable before he could settle in, giving up three runs in the first inning to the Dodgers.
Hughes did only rank as the 16th prospect in a thin Colorado farm system, and he hasn’t shown the ability to generate much swing and miss yet.
He has been really stellar at limiting hard contact, so again, give me the Rockies, but give me the Over.
TJ Rumfield to Hit a Home Run (+750)
The value play is TJ Rumfield all day. He is hitting .319 with a .934 OPS vs righties, and unlike some of his teammates, he has been great outside of Coors Field.
He boasts a .294 AVG and an .834 OPS on the road with five of his 13 home runs.
He has performed well in July, hitting over .300, but the power hasn’t necessarily been there. He’s due for a long ball, and against Canning, he has as good an opportunity as ever.
