The Boston Red Sox announced on Tuesday that Chad Tracy has signed a three year contract after leading the team to the postseason as interim manager.
The Boston Red Sox named Chad Tracy as their interim manager on April 26 after the club fired manager Alex Cora for starting the season 10-17 (.370), which was tied for the worst record in the American League.
Since his debut, Tracy has led the Sox to a 74-55 (.574) record, which is second in the AL and fifth-best in the majors. Tracy also led Boston through the best 30-game span in franchise history, going 27-3 (.900) from July 3 through August 7. During that stretch, the Red Sox tied the longest win streak in franchise history by winning 15 consecutive games.
In a city known for an incredibly rich sports history, Chad Tracy was setting records while still holding the 'interim' tag.
The 41-year-old has now officially led the Red Sox to the postseason and was rewarded with a three-year contract with the club.
Tracy previously served as the manager of the Triple-A Worcester WooSox, leading the team to a winning record during each of his four seasons before being called up to the majors in April.
The club also picked up chief baseball officer Craig Breslow's 2029 and 2030 contract options the same day.
