The Buckeyes come into the game as large double-digit favorites, but the Hawkeye fans have seen the upset movie before in their magical stadium. In 2017, the Hawkeyes welcomed a sixth-rank Buckeyes team and put on a 55-24 shellacking, just one of many upset victories for Iowa in their home stadium.
This version of the Buckeyes is unlike any other team, however. They have Jeremiah Smith - Ohio State's greatest receiver in the program's long and successful history. He finished with over 200 yards and four touchdowns last week against Illinois and is the current odds-on favorite to win the Heisman at +250.
He and quarterback Julian Sayin have connected on several deep balls already, which turns into more of a 75/25 ball for Smith. While Smith has been phenomenal, the Buckeyes are looking for more production from their other receivers. Devin McCuin, Brandon Inniss, Brock Boyd, and Chris Henry Jr. have all combined for less yards than Smith has by himself.
On the other side, the Hawkeyes made all Ohio State fans happy with a last-second win at Michigan, which felt like karma from Week 1's clock disaster. Michigan outgained Iowa 429-285, but in classic Iowa fashion, a kick-return touchdown kept them in the game before the offense put together a 91-yard drive in 1:46 to win it.
They have their eyes set on their first-ever playoff appearance, and a 4-0 start is a brilliant way to keep those hopes very real.
Iowa has things to like on offense - a solid o-line, dynamic running backs, and a few receivers that are talented. It'll fall on quarterback Hank Brown to make some throws downfield to keep the Hawkeyes in this game.
