Alex Newhook has scored the series-clinching goal in both Game 7s that the Montreal Canadiens have endured - his most recent one coming in overtime at Buffalo against the Sabres.
His game-winner sets up an Eastern Conference Finals battle against the dominant Carolina Hurricanes.
The teams have gone through a wildly different path to reach this point: The Hurricanes have played the least amount of games possible, starting the playoffs 8-0. The Canadiens, on the other hand, have played the maximum amount of games and are 8-6 in the postseason.
34-year-old Taylor Hall has found youthful energy in the playoffs - the former MVP is leading the team with 12 points in eight games.
However, the story of the Canes' success thus far has been the tremendous play of goalie Frederik Andersen. He's saved 191 of 201 shots this postseason, leading it with a .950 save percentage.
Andersen has played so well that he's currently the second-favorite behind Nathan MacKinnon to win the Conn Smythe Trophy (+400).
Lane Hutson and Nick Suzuki have led the Habs with 14 and 13 points respectively in the playoffs, with Newhook leading the team with seven goals.
Overall, Jakub Dobes had a solid series in net against Buffalo and he carries a .910 save percentage across the 14 playoff games for Montreal.
The Canes are currently top-two favorites to win the Stanley Cup, just behind the Colorado Avalanche. Montreal will need to be at their best to knock off a well-rested and extremely confident Carolina team.
