To round out another week in the MLB, all 30 teams are set to be in action throughout Sunday and the featured game on Sunday night will feature an American League matchup between the Texas Rangers and the Boston Red Sox.
This game between the Rangers and the Red Sox is scheduled for Sunday, June 14, and has an expected first pitch time of 7:20 PM ET. The game will be played at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and will be broadcast on NBC/Peacock.
Our article will preview this game by including our best bet and our favorite player prop. Additionally, we will include the current betting odds and the home run odds for the top players from both teams.
Our top pick for this game between the Rangers and the Red Sox will target the Red Sox to win. Boston enters this game with a record 29-39 and have mightily struggled this season, as they are currently in last place in the AL East division.
That being said, the Red Sox have won the first two games of this series with the Rangers, and will be looking for a sweep in Game 3 on Sunday. Set to start for Boston in this game will be Connelly Early, who has a record of 5-4 and an ERA of 3.30.
Early has been serviceable at home this season, having posted an ERA of 3.86, allowing 14 earned runs over 32.2 innings across six starts. His last three home starts have particularly been effective, having allowed four earned runs over 19.1 innings.
Texas, on the other hand, enters this game with a record of 34-36 and are currently in third place in the AL West division. Looking to salvage a win from this series, the Rangers are set to start Nathan Eovaldi, who has a record of 5-7 and an ERA of 4.26.
Eovaldi has by no means been consistent this season, especially on the road, where he has an ERA of 4.14. In nine away starts this season, Eovaldi has allowed 27 runs (25 earned) over 54.1 innings. Further, Eovaldi has had a horrible start to June, posting an ERA of 6.17 over two starts (both on the road), in which he has allowed eight earned runs over 11.2 innings.
Early and the Red Sox have by no means been the most consistent, but given that Eovaldi has been much more inconsistent, backing the Boston Red Sox to win will be our best bet.
Our favorite player prop is this game will look for Wilson Contreras, from the Boston Red Sox, to hit a home run. Contreras has hit a total of 14 home runs this season, which leads the Red Sox.
Further, he has already hit a home run in this series, that being in Game 1 this past Friday night. On top of that, nine of Contreras’ 14 home runs have come against right-handed pitchers, which is what he will face in Game 3 with Eovaldi on the mound.
Add in the fact that Eovaldi has allowed 15 home runs this season, the majority of which have come when pitching on the road and backing Wilson Contreras to hit a home run will be our play.
