The San Diego Padres and Atlanta Braves will continue a four-game series on Wednesday night in Atlanta.
It is all tied up at one win apiece after the Braves took the opener 3-2 before the Padres hit back for an 8-3 victory on Tuesday.
Wednesday’s showdown should be a good one, with San Diego’s Michael King and Atlanta’s Martin Perez taking the mound.

San Diego Padres ML (+100)
The Padres should feel good about their chances with King on the mound. He may not be ace material compared to other teams’ No. 1 starters, but a 3.34 ERA and 1.16 WHIP are solid numbers.
King has been especially impressive of late, with only two runs allowed in 11.0 innings across his past two appearances. The right-hander's July ERA through three outings stands at 2.12.
Atlanta has imploded since its scorching-hot first two months of the season. Its 10.5-game lead in the National League East is down to three over Philadelphia. Right fielder Ronald Acuna Jr., shortstop Ha-Seong Kim, catcher Sean Murphy and reliever Robert Suarez are all on the injured list.
San Diego has won two of its last three games, including a 19-2 humiliation of Kansas City this past Sunday, and they are the pick for Wednesday’s showdown.
Under 8.5 (+100)
Although Perez does not inspire a ton of confidence for the Braves, his start means that they will almost certainly run a whole bunch of relievers out there – and that is usually good news.
Atlanta ranks third in all of Major League Baseball in bullpen ERA (3.14), just barely trailing the Yankees and Red Sox. The home team used a total of just four relievers in the first two games of this series, and none was a high-leverage arm. Atlanta's pen will be in great shape for Wednesday.
The Braves’ bats figure to struggle against King. Their lineup is depleted without Acuna, left field and shortstop continue to be glaring holes and the 2026 campaign has been a miserable one for Austin Riley. As a whole, Atlanta’s current roster is 18-for-78 (.231) lifetime against King with only two extra-base hits and 20 strikeouts compared to just three walks.
It should also be noted that San Diego also features some impressive relievers. It ranks sixth league wide in bullpen ERA at 3.67.
Manny Machado over 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs (-135)
If there is at least a little bit of offense generated on Wednesday, don’t be surprised if it comes courtesy of Manny Machado.
San Diego’s third baseman delivered multi-hit performances in each of the first two games in this series, including three homers.
In his last three games, Machado has driven in four runs and also crossed the plate four times.
Success should continue at Perez’s expense. Machado is 7-for-21 lifetime against the southpaw with one home run, six walks and only one strikeout.
