The MLB playoffs continue on Sunday with both NLDS Game 2s with one of these matchups seeing the Atlanta Braves take on the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are leading the series 1-0.
This game between the Braves and the Dodgers has an expected first pitch time of 8:00 PM ET at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California and will be broadcast on FS1.
Our top pick for Game 2 of this NLDS series between the Braves and Dodgers will target the over.
The Dodgers had the luxury of having a bye in the NL Wild-Card, due to the fact that they had the second best record in the NL at 100-62 this season. Los Angeles did not break through until the fourth inning of Game 1, but eventually posted five runs (all homers) on eight hits.
Set to start Game 2 for the Dodgers will be Blake Snell, who posted a record of 4-1 and an ERA of 1.90 across nine starts in the regular season.
It should be noted that Snell has pitched extremely well at home this season, posting an ERA of 2.14 in four starts. That being said, Snell did not fare well against the Braves in his lone start against them, allowing five runs (four earned) over 3.0 innings.
As for the Braves, they will be looking to take a split in Los Angeles before heading back to Atlanta for Game 3 of this series. However, the main issue for the Braves right now is the state of their pitching.
Atlanta had to go all-out to win their NL Wild-Card series against the Philadelphia Phillies, meaning they do not have much choice but to turn the bullpen like they did in Game 1.
Early in the series opener, the bullpen did well, but ultimately, the depth of the Dodgers’ lineup saw them score five runs. The Braves were able to battle back and score three runs (5-3 final); therefore, they should have some momentum going into Game 2, especially considering they have already had success against Snell this season.
Simply put, knowing that this is more than likely going to be a bullpen game for the Braves and knowing that Snell struggled in his only start against Atlanta this season makes backing over 7.5 runs the appealing option.
Our favorite player prop for this game will look for Matt Olson, from the Atlanta Braves to hit a home run. Olson has not had the strongest start to the postseason, as he is 2 for 15 over four games.
That said, Olson hit one home run in the NL Wild-Card. On the season, he has hit 21 home runs on the road, and 16 home runs against left-handed pitching and with such factors in his favor, odds of +475 for Olson to go yard look tempting.
