Leo Carlsson: Injury Timeline and Potential Return Dates for Ducks' Star

Anaheim Ducks center Leo Carlsson had a procedure done on his left thigh on Friday, Jan. 16 and was ruled out for three-to-five weeks. We'll take a look at when the Ducks young star could return to the ice.

The 21-year-old Swede was supposed to take part in the 2026 Winter Olympics as part of team Sweden for the ice hockey event, but he'll have to wait until 2030 in France to get a taste of Olympic hockey.

Carlsson has been a key part of the Ducks turnaround after finishing with less than 60 points in 2022/23 and 2023/24. Anaheim finished with 80 points last year, but they're on track to reach the 90-point barrier this year.

The former No. 2 overall pick in 2023 leads the Ducks with 44 points (18 goals, 26 assists) and is the main catalyst for an offense that got off to a fast start and ranks in the top-half of the NHL in goals scored.

Teammate center Troy Terry (13 goals, 29 assists) has been out since Jan. 6, but he's expected to return soon. In their place, Cutter Gauthier, Mason McTavish, Beckett Sennecke, and more will have to step up.

When Will Carlsson Return to the Ice?

With the announcement of Carlsson's recovery expecting to last three-to-five weeks, Carlsson will return after the NHL Olympic break from Feb. 6 - Feb. 24.

Time will tell if Carlsson will play right after the break when the Ducks host the Edmonton Oilers on Feb. 25, though it seems likely that he'll be back for that.
