Kylian Mbappe and France will face Spain in the 2026 World Cup semifinals on Tuesday, July 14th.
Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi have undoubtably been the best players at the each of the past two World Cup tournaments, and the two stars are tied for the tournament lead with eight goals.
Mbappe has scored eight goals so far in 2026, tying his 2022 Golden Boot winning tally. At just 27-years-old, the French forward has already surpassed Miroslav Klose's World Cup record of 16 goals, but is still one shy of Messi who has scored 21 World Cup goals.
In six games so far in the World Cup, Mbappe has scored a brace in three of them, and in the only game he did not score, he tallied two assists to his Ballon d'Or winning teammate Ousmane Dembele.
Nobody has been able to stop the French attack thus far, but Paraguay came the closest in the Round of 16. Paraguay held the France National Team to just one goal, which was a penalty converted by the inevitable Mbappe.
Mbappe will look to open the floodgates of the Spanish defense on Tuesday after Belgium's Charles De Ketelaere scored the first goal against the opposition all tournament in the quarterfinal.
