Head coach Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers have famously enjoyed the transformation from being one of the worst football programs of all time to entering the top of relevancy in the college football world in just two years.
In an amazing turnaround, an Indiana team that went 3-9 in 2023 just wrapped up a 16-0 season - the first team to win 16 games since the 1894 Yale Bulldogs.
These Hoosiers aren't going anywhere. Cignetti has his eyes set on becoming the first back-to-back champion since the Georgia Bulldogs in 2021 and 2022, and he's building his team up with the exact formula that got him to this point - the transfer portal.
The football program will lose the likes of Fernando Mendoza, Elijah Sarratt, Omar Cooper Jr., D'Angelo Ponds, and more to the 2026 NFL Draft, but they're doing an excellent job re-tooling through the portal.
Let's take a look at their 2026 transfer portal haul so far:
The Hoosiers rank No. 2 on On3's transfer portal team rankings and No. 7 on 247sports.com's rankings. Per On3, they have brought in three four-star transfers and 13 three-stars.
Here are the top-ten additions so far for Indiana:
Player | Position | Former School | Key Stat |
Nick Marsh (JR) | WR | Michigan State | 1,311 yards, 7 TDs in two seasons |
Josh Hoover (RS-SR) | QB | TCU | 9,629 pass yards, 71 TDs in 36 games |
A.J. Harris (JR) | CB | Penn State | Top-ten PFF grade for CBs in 2024 |
Joe Brunner (RS-JR) | IOL | Wisconsin | 0 sacks allowed in 2025 |
Chiddi Obiazor (RS-SO) | EDGE | Kansas State | 6 sacks in 28 career games |
Tobi Osunsanmi (RS-JR) | EDGE | Kansas State | 4 sacks in 6 games in 2025 |
Shazz Preston (RS-JR) | WR | Tulane | 723 yards in 2025 |
Joshua Burnham (RS-JR) | EDGE | Notre Dame | 17 TFL in 40 career games |
Turbo Richard (SO) | RB | Boston College | 749 yards, 9 TDs in 2025 |
Preston Zachman (RS-SR) | S | Wisconsin | 7 career INTs in 35 games |
Similarly to the past two seasons, Cignetti is bringing in a veteran QB who has the talent to make all the throws needed. Josh Hoover has put up huge numbers at TCU and he'll have more talent to work with at IU.
Speaking of talent to work with, there's not many better receivers in the country than Nick Marsh. He's 6'3, fast, good after the catch, and will form a terrific duo with the 6'4 Charlie Becker on the other side who lit up the CFP.
He's also bringing in a group of pass rushing D-linemen - the deep position group that made Indiana's defense so great.
Indiana is +700 to go back-to-back and win the 2026/27 National Championship on bet365.
