A new season of college football brings the third consecutive EA College Football game since the video game series made its return in 2024.
EA College Football 27 will release worldwide on Thursday, July 9, and the ratings for every player in the game were annoucned today.
Miami (FL) wide receiver Malachi Toney, Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy, and Oregon quarterback Dante Moore all grace the cover of this year's edition, and all three star athletes are rated in the top-10 overall.
The SEC leads all conferences with four top-10 players, while the Big Ten contributes three, the ACC has one player, and Notre Dame's star cornerback Leonard Moore is the lone player from an Independent team.
Surprisingly, Missouri is the only school to feature two top-10 players: Running back Ahmad Hardy and left tackle Cayden Green.
Below is a list of the top-10 players overall in EA College Football 27, along with their position and team:
Player | Postion | Team | Overall |
Jeremiah Smith | WR | Ohio State | 99 |
Carter Smith | LT | Indiana | 97 |
Leonard Moore | CB | Notre Dame | 97 |
Ahmad Hardy | HB | Missouri | 96 |
Cayden Green | LT | Missouri | 96 |
Kewan Lacy | HB | Ole Miss | 96 |
Malachi Toney | WR | Miami (FL) | 96 |
Colin Simmons | EDGE | Texas | 95 |
Dante Moore | QB | Oregon | 95 |
Kade Pieper | C | Iowa | 95 |
KJ Bolden | FS | Georgia | 95 |
Ohio State's superstar wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is the only 99 overall to open up the year. The ratings fluctuate throughout the season, so there's a chance someone else reaches his status, but to start the year, Smith is an entire two overalls higher than the next highest-rated player.
He's a 6'3, 223 lb do-it-all behemoth on the outside, able to run past defenders deep with his 95 speed and 97 catch ratings and "moss" defenders with a 99 spectacular catch rating.
The only two 97 overalls to begin the year are Indiana's Carter Smith and Notre Dame's Leonard Moore. The top-three highest-rated players in the game are all projected to be selected very early in the 2027 NFL Draft.
Mizzou's Hardy and the Rebels' Lacy are tied as the best running back in the game with a 96 overall. The SEC halfbacks are twitchy, strong, and fast, and will be a blast to use in the game.
Toney, the 96 overall cover athlete, is the second highest rated receiver in the game and for good reason. He helped lead Miami to a national championship appearance last year with his absurd running ability after the catch - or on a handoff. He has 99 agility and will surely break a few ankles in the game.
Colin Simmons, Dante Moore, Kade Pieper, and KJ Bolden are all tied as the fourth-highest rated players in the game, all sitting at a 95 overall.
Simmons will be dominant off the edge as a pass rusher and is rightfully rated as the top EDGE in the game after recording an SEC-leading 12 sacks last year.
Moore chose to return to Oregon after being projected as a likely first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and it's no surprise that he's the highest rated quarterback in the game. He has a cannon of an arm and will be able to scramble a bit with his 86 speed rating.
