5 Golf Stars Not Playing in the 2026 US Masters

The 2026 Masters field is packed with golf's biggest names, but several notable stars will not be teeing it up at Augusta this year.

Whether due to injury, lack of qualification, or personal reasons a few high-profile golfers are set to miss golf's most iconic event.

Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods' absence at the 2026 Masters is one of the biggest storylines, as the five-time champion steps away from Augusta to focus on his health and recovery.

It is hard to picture Sunday at the Masters without Tiger in the field. Woods holds the second-most Masters wins in history behind Jack Nicklaus (6).

Phil Mickelson

Phil Mickelson has not been as active in the LIV Golf field compared to previous seasons. He announced on social media that he will not be playing in the Masters this year.

Phil Mickelson has earned a lifetime Masters invitation after his first win in 2004. He went on to win two more masters in 2006 and 2010.

Rickie Fowler

Rickie Fowler missed the Masters from 2021-2023, he earned a spot in 2024 with his win at the 2023 Rocket Morgage Classic. Missing last year as well, Rickie has not been able to place inside the top 50 in the OWGR rankings.

Rickie Fowler's best Masters finish was second place in 2018. Other key finishes were T4 in 2014 and T11 in 2017. Rickie is considered one of the most popular players on the PGA Tour, many fans will miss him in the 2026 field and hope to see him back next year.

Joaquin Niemann

Joaquin Niemann The LIV Golf star has played in five consecutive Masters, but the last two were awarded through a special invitation from Augusta. He is currently ranked No. 176 as of March, 1.

Joaquin won five events with LIV Golf in 2025 and has played in 19 of the last 20 Majors. He is one of the surprising names not on the list and will hope to be invited back next year.

Will Zalatoris

Will Zalatoris has been battling injuries the past few seasons, including withdrawing from the Masters in 2023. Will's 2026 season has been rocky, missing cuts, and withdrawing due to an ankle injury from the Cognizant Classic.

Zalatoris has historically played well at Augusta. At his Masters debut in 2021, he finished runner-up to Hideki Matsuyama and in two out of three other appearances he has finished in the top-10.
