2x MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo will make his debut in a Miami Heat uniform tonight at the Kaseya Center against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
After spending the first 13 years of his career with Milwaukee, and leading the Bucks to a championship in 2021, Antetokounmpo was traded to the Heat for Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, Nate Ament, and four more future draft picks.
Milwaukee failed to maintain their championship-caliber roster around Giannis, drawing the ire of his camp for multiple seasons until the dam finally broke. Antetokounmpo will join the likes of Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins, Klay Thompson, Pelle Larsson, Davion Mitchell, and more in Miami.
Giannis played in just 36 games last year, but he remains a top-five player and perhaps the league's best two-way player. The 31-year-old averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game while shooting a career-high 62.4% from the floor last year.
Antetokounmpo's first regular season game with his new team will be played at 7:30 PM ET from Miami. The Wolves feature a new star of their own, LaMelo Ball, and the game should be a tremendous back-and-forth battle in tonight's slate of 11 games.
