Every Sport at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympic Games

The 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics opening ceremony will take place on Friday, February 6, 2026.

Roughly 2,900 athletes are expected to compete this winter in Milan, Italy - all in search of 116 gold medals which will be handed out across 16 different sports.

The Milan Cortina Winter Games will be the largest Winter Olympics in history, with one new sport and multiple new competitions.

Ski Mountaineering will make it's debut as one of the fastest growing winter sports in the world. Women's large hill ski jumping and dual moguls will also be added to the program.

Alpine Skiing

Alpine skiing is one of the largest Olympic sports since it debuted in 1936. More events were added until 1988.

Competitions will be held at the Stelvio Ski Centre in Bormio, and the Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre in Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Biathlon

Biathlon has been an integral part of the Olympic Games since debuting in 1924 in Chamonix. Women's competitions were added in 1992.

4-man bobsleigh debuted in during the 1924 Chamonix Winter Olympic Games. The 2-man event was added during the 1932 Winter Games in Lake Placid.

The competitions will take place at the Cortina Sliding Centre.

Cross-Country Skiing

Cross-Country Skiing has been an Olympic sport since the first winter games in Chamonix, 1924. Women's competitions were added in 1952.

All competitions will take place at the Tesero Cross-Country Skiing Stadium in Tesero.

Curling made its debut during the 1924 Chamonix Winter Games. It became a demonstrative event in 1932, and returned in the 1998 Nagano Olympic Games.

Curling will compete at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium in Cortina d'Ampezzo.

The main team event in the Winter Olympics, Ice Hockey made it's Olympic debut during the 1920 Antwerp Summer Games. It has been a Winter Olympic Sport since 1924.

Team's will compete at the Milano Rho Ice hockey Arena, and the Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena.

Luge made it's Olympic debut in 1964 during the Innsbruck Winter Games. Women's doubles will make its Olympic debut in 2026.

Nordic combined has been an Olympic sport since 1924, and is a blend of cross country skiing and ski jumping.

The competitions will take place at the Pedrazzo Ski Jumping Stadium and Tesero Cross Country Skiing Stadium.

Short Track Speed Skating

Short track speed skating debuted during the Calgary Olympics in 1988. The Competitions expanded to nine competitions in 2002.

Skeleton is one of the oldest winter sports, born in 18877 in Switzerland. Skeleton made it's Olympic debut in 1928.

Snowboarding first appeared in the Olympics at the 1998 Nagano Games which included giant slalom and halfpipe events. Snowboard cross debuted in 2006, followed by slopestyle in 2014, and Big air in 2018.
