Charles Oliveira (37-11-0, 1 NC) is a huge fan favorite in the UFC and recently won the BMF title fight against Max Holloway at UFC 326 on March 7.
The pair met for the second time in a rematch over 10-and-a-half years in the making. The Brazilian lost by TKO following a controversial neck/shoulder injury, which led to criticism that he had quit.
These claims dogged Oliveira’s early UFC career until a first-round submission of Clay Guida in 2018 became the catalyst for an 11-fight unbeaten run.
This winning streak saw Oliveira win the vacant UFC Lightweight title in May 2021, when in the wake of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s retirement, he secured lightweight gold with a second-round TKO win over Michael Chander.
Ultimately, more controversy followed with Oliveira losing the belt on the scales, missing championship weight by half a pound in his second defense against Justin Geathje.
Oliveira won the fight when submitting the American in the first round, but was ineligible for the belt.
His next match-up was for the 155lb strap he was stripped of, but he suffered a second-round submission defeat at the hands of Islam Makhachev at UFC 280 in October 2022.
Since then, Oliveira is 3-2 and has been unable to put back-to-back wins together.
The now 36-year-old has defeated Beneil Dariush, Michael Chandler and Mateusz Gamrot but lost to Arman Tsarukyan and a second shot at UFC gold when he was TKO’d by Ilia Topuria in the first round of their vacant title fight in the summer of 2025.
Famed for his bleached blonde hair, the Chute Boxer fighter has always had a walk forward, fan friendly style and remains one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC.
Oliveira holds the record for most finishes (21), submission victories (17) and performance bonuses (21).
In 36 UFC contests, Oliveira has only seen the final bell twice.
It is estimated Oliveira has a net worth of $3m.
Oliveira will took on Max Holloway for the BMF title at UFC 326 on March 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
His next fight is yet to be announced.
