Alcaraz has postponed his much-anticipated return to the ATP Tour after announcing his withdrawal from the upcoming Cincinnati Open.
The tournament, scheduled to run from August 11th to August 23rd, will be without its 2025 champion. Carlos Alcaraz secured his first title in Cincinnati that year with a victory over Jannik Sinner in a shortened final.
Alcaraz has been sidelined for four months with a right wrist injury. While he recently resumed on-court training, he is not yet prepared for the demands of competitive play.
The seven-time Grand Slam winner's last professional match was in Barcelona, where he was forced to retire due to the wrist injury after a win against Otto Virtanen.
Status for the US Open Remains up in the air
Despite this setback, Alcaraz remains on the entry list for the US Open. If he competes in New York, it will mark his first tournament since his injury.
The Spaniard began the year in historic fashion, capturing his seventh major at the Australian Open and becoming the youngest male player to complete the career Grand Slam.
