Brazil vs. Japan Odds, Picks, & Predictions

Brazil and Japan clash in the World Cup round of 32 and it could well be one of the most exciting matchups of the first knockout round of the tournament.

The Selecao finished top of Group C after sealing wins over Haiti and Scotland and drawing 1-1 with Morocco.

Those results meant the South American giants topped their group for the 12th successive World Cup finals dating all the way back to 1982.

Japan finished second behind the Netherlands after drawing two and winning one of their three matches. The Samurai Blue have now reached the knockout stages of the previous three World Cups.

The onus is now on breaking new ground and reaching the quarter-finals for the first time.

Brazil vs. Japan betting picks and predictions

Both teams to score (-106)

Brazil have been solid so far during the tournament, keeping clean sheets in 3-0 wins over both Haiti and Scotland.

Neither of those teams offered much threat in the final third, however, and the Brazilian defence was exposed during their opening game against Morocco.

Ismael Saibari made a fantastic run, cutting through the heart of the Brazil backline to put the Atlas Lions in front and they could have scored more.

Japan will pose a similar sort of threat in this round of 32 clash. Seven goals have been scored in their three matches and back in October the Samurai Blue secured their first-ever win over Brazil.

Carlo Ancelotti's side have conceded against the likes of Egypt, Panama, Tunisia and Bolivia dating back to September 2025.

Add in the fact that Japan have scored in 10 consecutive matches and it suggests that both teams could find the back of the net in this match.

Over 2.5 goals (+100)

Three or more goals were scored in two of Brazil's three group games, with the same bet also landing in two of Japan's three group-stage matches.

Prior to the stat of the tournament, Brazil’s previous four games had seen at least three goals scored.

Japan's last three games before the World Cup were all narrow 1-0 wins, yet Hajime Moriyasu’s side have showcased their attacking qualities so far in North America.

While plenty of knockout matches will be cagey affairs, this one can buck that trend. Brazil are still looking for that statement performance, while the Japanese know a win could be the catalyst for a deep run in the competition.

As such, expect both sides to be right up for this match and goals will certainly be on the cards.

Vinicius Jnr to score (+150)

Vinicius Jnr has been Brazil's talisman so far in the tournament, scoring four goals across three games.

A goal against both Morocco and Haiti came before he netted a brace against a hapless Scotland side and he is firmly in the race for the Golden Boot.

Tougher tasks await, but with the Real Madrid superstar hitting top form early, Ancelotti will be confident of making progress.

Japan have conceded three times so far in the competition and Vinicius Jnr will be looking to add another goal or two to his tally during this matchup.
