In honor of the ESPY's, we've put together the "365's" to recognize some of the best betting highlights since the turn of the new year.
In this article, we'll focus on the biggest comebacks: teams will the longest live odds to win a respective game or series, starting with the miraculous effort from Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks in Game 4 of the NBA Finals.
After the Knicks took the first two games of the NBA Finals in San Antonio, New York was hoping for a smooth sweep to end to the series and claim their first NBA title since 1973. The team was looking unstoppable - it had won 13 straight games and the next two games were to be played in front of their raucous home crowd at Madison Square Garden.
However, the Spurs came into Game 3 with a mental edge - they knew they had to win the game to keep their hopes alive, and Victor Wembanyama and co. did just that. They took home a hard-fought 115-111 victory. Now with momentum on their side, San Antonio dominated the Knicks to start Game 4 as they led 41-22 after the end of the first quarter and 76-49 at half.
Coming out of halftime, the crowd was deflated and the team had a massive hill to climb to try and get back into the game. A couple weeks before, the Knicks had pulled off an insane 22-point fourth quarter comeback against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1, but the Spurs are clearly a much better team. San Antonio ran their lead up all the way to 29 points (81-52) with 9:40 left in the third quarter and, at this point, the Knicks were +2000 to comeback and win the game.
Also at that point, Wemby picked up a flagrant foul which immediately sparked a 13-0 Knicks run. All of a sudden, the 81-65 deficit felt doable. The Knicks went 5-for-10 from three in the third quarter, including a clutch 3-for-3 from OG Anunoby, but they were still down by 15 entering the fourth.
Like the earlier Cavs game, the Knicks hot shooting continued in the final quarter as the team shot 6-10 from three, including two put in by Jose Alvarado off the bench. The Spurs struggled mightily to get anything going on offense, shooting 4-for-19 from the field in the quarter 8-for-39 overall in the second half as the Knicks kept chipping away.
Anunoby remained clutch, going 2-for-2 from three and 3-for-3 from the field overall in the fourth. Of course, one of those makes was the iconic tip-in to go up 107-106 with 1.2 seconds on the clock. His play rightfully won the ESPY for "Best Play" and secured the bag for the gutsy bettors that got the Knicks money line at +2000. A $10 wager paid out $210.
The Boston Celtics have been a volatile team in the playoffs in the Joe Mazzulla era, as his emphasis on getting up as many threes as possible can lead to massive upswings and very low downswings.
Of course, an NBA Championship in 2024 proved that Mazzulla's philosophy can work, but the Eastern Conference Finals loss to the No. 8 seed Miami Heat in 2023 also showed that it can be exposed.
With Jayson Tatum being ruled out for most of the season coming into last year, expectations were lower in Boston than they had been in previous years. However, Jaylen Brown had a career year and led the deep team to a 56-26 record to finish in second place in the East. Once Tatum returned towards the end of the year, the expectations were back up to a championship standard.
Nobody was predicting the No. 7 seed Philadelphia 76ers to really compete with the fully-healthy Celtics in the first round. Joel Embiid was banged up and was forced to miss the first three games of the series, but when Philly won Game 2 in Boston, heads turned a little bit. The Celtics would shut up critics for a while after they won Game 3 and Game 4 - the latter by 32 points. At this point in the series, Boston was up 3-1 and Philly was +2800 to comeback and win the series.
Embiid was a -25 in his first 2026 playoff game in that Game 4, but he, Tyrese Maxey, and the rest of the Sixers all of a sudden put on their LeBron shades and wired headphones and dismantled the Celtics in front of their home crowd in the elimination Game 5. Boston never found their shooting stroke for the rest of the series and shot less than 30% from three in games 5-7 while jacking up over 40 three-point attempts per game.
Philly pulled off the infamous 3-1 comeback and bettors that wagered on them at +2800 when they were in that hole were paid out heftily. A $10 bet would've returned $290.
Moving onto football, two of the biggest rivals in the NFL, the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers, gave us three epic games last season including a crazy Wild Card playoff game in Chicago.
After losing four in a row entering the playoffs, Green Bay got off to a quick start on offense scoring three touchdowns on their first three drives. A Caleb Williams interception and back-to-back turnovers-on-downs in the drives thereafter created a massive 21-3 gap on the scoreboard and made the Bears +1500 on the money line with 30 seconds left in the first half.
Chicago, however, was familiar with being down on the scoreboard - they had six comeback victories after trailing in the fourth quarter or overtime coming into the game, and Williams had a knack for playing at his best while down.
The Bears defense forced four punts in a row and Chicago slowly chipped back, eventually making it a 21-16 ballgame with 10 minutes left in the game. The Packers responded in a big way though as Jordan Love and Matthew Golden connected for a 23-yard touchdown to make it 27-16 with six minutes left.
Then Caleb woke up. He led a 10-play, 76-yard drive in just 2 minutes and 18 seconds which included the wild 27-yard completion to Rome Odunze on 4th and 8, then after a missed field goal by Green Bay, the Bears drove 66 yards - capped off by an unbelievable touchdown to DJ Moore - in one minute to take a four-point lead.
Chicago's defense made one last stop, and the +1500 bettors were paid out. $10 would've returned $160.
The most recent comeback to land on the list was the World Cup Round of 16 match between Argentina and Egypt in Atlanta. Down 2-0 in the 78th minute, the powerhouse country was +2200 to comeback and win the game in regulation time.
While Egypt did go up on the scoreboard, it always felt like Argentina was on the brink of scoring throughout the game. The team in blue and white outshot their opponent 17-4 during the game and had possession for 58% of the time.
The dam finally broke during the last 15 minutes of the game in which Argentina scored thrice to take the lead and win it. Cristian Romero scored a header on an assist from Lionel Messi in the 79th minute, then the GOAT tied up the game with an impressive 13-yard goal with defenders all around him in the 83rd minute.
Finally, in stoppage time, Enzo Fernandez scored a header on a beautiful pass from Lautaro Martinez to effectively seal it. Three goals in 15 minutes is extremely impressive, and the lucky +2200 bettors were rejoicing when the defending World Cup champion pulled off the miracle. A $10 wager would've returned $230. Now, of course, the stacked team is back in the final and are looking to become the first country since Brazil in 1958 and 1962 to win back-to-back World Cups.
