Alexander Bublik has trodden this path before and is just one game away from retaining the Generali Open title he won last year by beating Arthur Cazaux 6-4 6-3 in the showpiece.
After seeing off Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-3 6-4 in the semifinals on Friday, the 29-year-old is closing in on his 10th ATP Tour title and third since his win in this tournament last season.
Standing in his way in Saturday's final is Quentin Halys who has reached the Championship match for only the second time on the ATP Tour after overcoming Yannick Hanfmann 6-4 7-6 (2) in the last four.
Halys' first ATP Tour Final also came on clay, at the Swiss Open in 2024, although he will be hoping for a much-improved performance this time around as he was well beaten by Matteo Berretini, losing 3-6 1-6.

Alexander Bublik cruised through the 2025 tournament without dropping a set and he appears to be making serene progress towards a repeat feat as he has reached the showpiece on the back of three successive straight-sets wins.
However, there are certainly reasons to believe the final will not be so straightforward for the Kazakhstan ace, despite the fact he is 72 places higher than Halys in the ATP rankings, and that is largely how well both players are serving.
These two only faced one break point each in their last-four clashes so there may not be too many breaks of serve, regardless of who wins, and two tie-breaks would comfortably push the match over the game total.
Throw in the fact that these two met just last week - for the only time in their careers - in Gstaad in a match that went to a third-set tie-break and that only enhances the appeal of this clash passing the game total.

Bublik is both the defending champion and much higher ranked at 11 than Halys down at 83 and is perhaps an understandable favorite, particularly having greater experience at this sort of level having won nine ATP titles, while Halys is chasing his first having only ever reached one final before.
However, the defending champion is maybe being overvalued in the odds bearing in mind that these two played last week and it was Halys who came out on top, albeit in a very close game that included two tie-breaks.
That shows that there is very little difference between the two right now, but Halys had the edge in a few key stats that makes his odds of +175 worth taking.
Halys served the most aces and fewest double faults while he also forced seven break points, admittedly only taking one but Bublik was unable to take advantage of either that he managed to create before going down 7-6 (4) 4-6 6-7 (5).
Given how close that match was but with the Frenchman enjoying a certain edge as well as ultimately winning, his odds look too big to ignore.

Again this is pointing to the strengths of serve of both players as well as how closely matched they are on the evidence of last week, and it could be worth backing a long opening set, again independent of the outcome.
These two went to a tiebreak in the first set in their first career head-to-head while Halys has been taken the distance in two of his next five first sets, while he won another 7-5.
With two big-hitting servers in action who have lost serve just three times in a combined seven matches in this tournament, it would be no surprise should one of these players need to win seven games to grab the initiative.
