Less than a month away from the start of the 30th WNBA season, the Atlanta Dream and Chicago Sky have made a blockbuster trade.
Former seventh-overall pick Angel Reese has been dealt to Atlanta for two first-round picks: one in 2027 and one in 2028. The Dream will also receive pick-swap rights to the Sky's 2028 second-round pick.
While Reese hadn't requested a trade, these two teams are on opposite ends of the competing spectrum, which explains the trade. The Sky finished 12th in the Eastern Conference last year with a 10-34 record while the Dream finished in third place at 30-14.
Chicago traded their young star in hopes to position themselves better for the late 2020s and early 2030s, and the Dream look to capitalize on their talented roster right now.
Reese's dominance on the glass will make Atlanta even harder to box out after they led the WNBA in rebounds per game last year. She'll join Brittney Griner, Brionna Jones, and Naz Hilmon in the frontcourt, and dynamic guards Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard in the backcourt.
Last year, Reese led the WNBA in rebounds, averaging 12.6 boards per game to defend her rebounding-crown from her rookie year (13.1). She is the only player in WNBA history to average more than 12 rebounds per game, and she's done it in two seasons.
She added more to her offensive skillset in her second year as well, as her touch around the basket improved and her shot looks like its coming along. Her field goal percentage jumped from 39.1% in her rookie year to 45.8% last year.

The Dream are now +1000 to win it all in 2026. Formed in 2008, the franchise is still searching for its first ever ring.
Atlanta sits tied for fifth in the outright odds table with the Phoenix Mercury (+1000), and are behind the New York Liberty (+450), Indiana Fever (+375), Minnesota Lynx (+350), and Las Vegas Aces (+350).

The Dream's regular season wins line is set at 29.5 (+100) following the addition of Angel Reese.
Atlanta won 30 games last year and carry over a very similar roster, along with Reese.

Angel Reese is +1000 to win Defensive Player of the Year with her new club. She averaged 1.5 steals and 0.7 blocks per game last year, but it's her defensive rebounding skills that make her a worthy candidate.
Reese will have to beat out the likes of Alyssa Thomas (+900), Aliyah Boston (+850), Alanna Smith (+850), Napheesa Collier (+750), and A'ja Wilson (+275).
MVP
Reese is +6000 to win the WNBA MVP, ranked 11th in the odds. She's behind her teammates Rhyne Howard (+3500) and Allisha Gray (+3500) - the latter of which finished in fourth-place for MVP last year.
