The Minnesota Timberwolves are fighting for a top-four seed in the Western Conference to secure home-court advantage in the first round, but they've been without their superstar, Anthony Edwards, for four consecutive games.
The Wolves are eager to get their franchise star back in time to ramp up before the playoffs which start in about three weeks. Edwards has averaged 29.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists this season while shooting 49.2% from the field and 40.2% from three.
Edwards last played on Mar. 15 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, and on Mar. 17, Michael C. Wright of ESPN reported that Edwards would be reevaluated in one-to-two weeks due to right knee soreness/inflammation.
It's a rare injury for the stocky guard who played in 79 games in three consecutive seasons from 2022 to 2025.
Eight days have passed and there's still not a real timetable yet for his return, according to Wolves' beat writer Jon Krawczynski. He's been ruled out of tonight's crucial game against the Houston Rockets.
On Mar. 24, head coach Chris Finch said that Edwards is "still just doing individual work as he rehabs the knee," according to Krawczynski.
There isn't a timetable which makes any potential return date a question mark, but considering the initial announcement that said he would be reevaluated in one-to-two weeks, Edwards should be back sooner rather than later.
Date | Away Team | Home Team |
Mar. 25 | Houston Rockets | Minnesota Timberwolves |
Mar. 28 | Minnesota Timberwolves
Mar. 30 | Minnesota Timberwolves
Apr. 2 | Minnesota Timberwolves | Detroit Pistons |
Apr. 3 | Minnesota Timberwolves |
Two weeks after the initial diagnosis would be Mar. 31. However, there's a decent chance that he could beat that mark and come back on Mar. 30 against the Mavericks.
If not the Mavericks game, look for Edwards to return in early April against either the Pistons or 76ers.
