Wrexham are reportedly interested in signing Jamie Vardy on a free transfer.
Wrexham are still searching for their first win of the 2026/27 Championship campaign after making an underwhelming start to the term under the stewardship of Phil Parkinson.
After successive 1-1 draws against Cardiff City and Watford, the Red Dragons fell to their first defeat of the season on Friday, losing 2-1 against Birmingham City.
The Welsh outfit have been amongst the most active Championship clubs in the summer transfer window -- spending in excess of £25m as they look to make the seismic jump to the Premier League -- and if reports are to be believed, their business could continue beyond the deadline at 23:00 on Tuesday 1st September.
As per talkSPORT journalist Ben Jacobs, Wrexham are interested in signing Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy.
The club have reportedly made an approach to Vardy over a possible move to the Racecourse Ground, but the centre forward is in no rush to make a decision about his future -- which can be resolved after the close of the transfer window due to the fact that he is without a club.
Vardy brought the curtain down on an illustrious 13-year career with the Foxes following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, wrapping up his time in East Midlands with his 200th goal for the club in his 500th appearance.
Options were aplenty following Vardy's Leicester departure, but he opted to join then Serie A outfit Cremonese on a one-year deal with the option for a further 12 months.
The two parties agreed not to proceed with the additional year, with Vardy leaving as a free agent after recording 10 Serie A goal contributions as the club suffered the drop to Serie B.
Wrexham were linked with a move to sign Vardy on a free transfer 12 months ago, and they're likely to have to fight off various potential suitors to secure his signature this time around, with Brazilian side Sau Paulo amongst the clubs expressing an interest to sign the striker.
