Wrexham have reportedly entered the race to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson.
The 26-year-old spent the second half of the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Millwall and helped the Lions secure a play-off finish before losing out to Hull City.
Patterson made a good impression at The Den and recent reports have suggested Alex Neil is interested in making a permanent move for the shot-stopper.
According to Alan Nixon, Wrexham are set to swoop in and test Sunderland's resolve after it was recently reported they were willing to sell Arthur Okonkwo, with Leicester City leading the race.
Okonkwo was Wrexham's first-choice goalkeeper for the majority of the last campaign, but Phil Parkinson dropped him in the final weeks of the season as the Welshmen narrowly missed out on a place in the Championship play-offs.
Patterson has been at Sunderland since the age of 13 and has made 153 senior appearances for the club.
During his time at the Stadium of Light, Patterson played an integral part in the Black Cats achieving promotion from both League One and the Championship.
Patterson's first-team action in the top-flight was limited significantly following the arrival of the impressive Robin Roefs, but the goalkeeper responded impressively and produced a string of good performances during his loan spell with Millwall.
While his long stay at Sunderland looks to be coming to an end, it will be fascinating to see how this transfer story develops and may be an indication of which Championship side are the boldest in this summer's window.
