Morocco international Anass Salah-Eddine has joined Panathinaikos on a season-long loan from Roma.
Salah-Eddine has not featured the Giallorossi so far this season amid an exceptional start in Serie A from the club.
Having been deemed surplus to requirements by Gian Piero Gasperini, the left wing-back was linked with a number of teams across Europe this summer.
One of those clubs was reportedly West Ham, with Nuno Espirito Santo said to have earmarked Salah-Eddine in their search for defensive reinforcements following Malick Diouf's departure.
The Hammers even made a deadline day approach for the 24-year-old, but a move ultimately did not materialise and the club instead signed Adama Boiro on loan from Athletic Bilbao.
Later reports claimed that Salah-Eddine did not even entertain a move to the London Stadium, despite Roma's willingness to allow him to move on.
The sticking point stemmed from his desire to continue playing top flight football, and it appears he will get his wish after joining Greek giants Panathinaikos on a season-long loan.
The Greek Super League club are said to have a option to purchase Salah-Eddine - who made four appearances this summer as Morocco reached the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup - for just €5million (£4.28m) at the end of the loan.
Panathinaikos currently sit top of the Greek top flight having won all four of their opening league games, and earned a place in the 2026-27 UEFA Conference League after beating Czech side Hradec Kralove in a play-off last month.
