Wigan Warriors came close to rewriting the history books with a dominant 72-20 victory over York Knights.
The Cherry and Whites impressively made it four wins in a row and almost broke a Super League record for the biggest ever margin of victory in the process - narrowly missing out on eclipsing the 96-16 win Bradford Bulls enjoyed over Salford City Reds back in 2000.
The majority of the crowd at the LNER Community Stadium were left shocked as Wigan dominated the first hour of the contest and scored tries at will in an assured display.
It took just 58 seconds for the visitors to open the scoring as Sam Eseh touched down and by half-time, Wigan were out of sight as they ran in eight tries to lead 44-0.
Wigan were running riot and incredibly led 72-0 after just 56 minutes, with all sorts of final scores and broken records looking possible.
To their credit, York dug in and avoided being on the wrong end of any more damage as they kept Wigan out and incredibly scored four consolation tries of their own in an action-packed last eight minutes to add some respectability to the scoreline.
