Wigan Warriors have secured the 2026 Super League League Leaders' Shield after their emphatic 50-12 win over Catalans Dragons confirmed the Cherry and Whites would finish at the top of the table.
The Warriors entered the final round of the 2026 Super League regular season knowing that a victory would guarantee them the spot at the top of the tanle, following their emphatic 40-8 victory over title rivals Leeds Rhinos at Headingley last weekend.
That result moed Matt Peet's side two points clear of Leeds with just one round remaining, leaving Wigan in control of their own destiny, with the Warriors delivering against Catalans to claim the League Leaders' Shield.
Their 2026 success sees Wigan lift the League Leaders' shield for the sixth time, moving them to within two of St Helens, who have won the most (8).
Having last won the trophy in 2024 - as part of a historic quadruple-winning campaign - the Warriors also previously finished top in 2010, 2012, 2020 and 2023.
Wigan's latest triumph represents a return to silverware in 2026, having suffered a trophyless campaign in 2025, which saw them fail to retain any of the four trophies they had lifted the season prior.
On their way to this triumph, Wigan ended the season with a miraculous run of 14 consecutive wins heading into tonight's match, which included their dominant win over their title rivals Leeds.
Attention for the Warriors will now turn to the play-offs, in which they will enter as the league's top-ranked side, gaining home advantage in their semi-final.
Peet's side will be hoping that, after reclaiming the League Leaders' Shield, the success doesn't stop here, as they look to return to Old Trafford for the 2026 Grand Final and have a chance of winning the biggest trophy of all yet again.
