Find out why Celtic boss Martin O'Neill won't be in the dugout for the Bhoys Scottish Premiership clash with Kilmarnock on Sunday.
The 74-year-old underwent a "small procedure" in hospital earlier in the week, sparking speculation as to whether he would be fit to take charge of his side at Rugby Park.
Assistant manager Shaun Maloney said there was "no timeline" on O'Neill's return during his pre-match press conference on Friday, but failed to rule out the Northern Irishman from returning to his post this weekend.
However, it was confirmed ahead of kick-off that Maloney would be on the sidelines as O'Neill continued his rehabilitation after being discharged from hospital on Thursday.
Celtic said in a statement on Wednesday: “In response to speculation, we can confirm that Martin O’Neill has undergone a small procedure in hospital.
"We would envisage Martin being released from hospital in the next day or two and on behalf of Martin, we would like to thank supporters for their kind wishes.
"We would ask that the privacy of Martin and his family is respected."
O'Neill was released just 24 hours later with Maloney delivering a positive update on his well-being.
"I went to see him last night. It was really positive," he told the media on Friday.
"He got out of hospital yesterday, so yeah he was in good form last night - he was loads better than he was on Monday and Tuesday.
“Hopefully that sort of positive feelings that he has continues, because he was in good form."
Maloney said at the time that it was too early to determine whether O'Neill would be back in time for today's clash, but confirmed that contingency plans were, and remain, in place for his absence.
"If it is this weekend, great, if it isn’t, we will prepare for it without him," he added.
"We will definitely miss him if he is not there, but you have to respect what has happened in the last few days.
"The impact he has had since October has been nothing short of incredible really. The things he does with the players and staff.
"So, we will miss him, but we will be prepared, we have some brilliant senior players. We will see. We will let him make the call."
