Where are Leicester City's 2015/16 title winners now?

It's a footballing story that will never be matched.

Leicester City, fancied to go down after narrowly escaping relegation the previous season, climbed the table to win the Premier League.

The Foxes had last played in the Premier League in 2004 when they were relegated, before falling into the third tier in 2008. Leicester were promoted at the first time of asking but spent five years in the Championship before returning to the top flight. Two years later, they were - miraculously - champions of England.

Jamie Vardy has announced that he will finally end his 13-year association with the club at the end of the season, becoming the final player of Leicester's title-winners to leave.

Here are some of the options for where Vardy could be playing next season.

Below, we look at where the rest of the legendary side are now.

Kasper Schmeichel

After the title win, Kasper Schmeichel spent six more years between the sticks for Leicester before moving to France where he joined Nice.

Moving to Anderlecht after a season, Schmeichel was on the move again 12 months later, and now plays for Celtic where he's set to take another league winners' medal.

Danny Simpson

Danny Simpson remained Leicester's first-choice right-back for two years after their title win before losing his place and joining Huddersfield Town. Simpson spent two years in West Yorkshire before moving to Bristol City for a couple of years.

Simpson featured sparingly for the Robins before a brief stint with Macclesfield where he retired six months later, going on to take up boxing.

Robert Huth

Already in his 30s at the time of Leicester's title win, Huth spent one more season at the club before injuries forced his retirement in January 2019.

Wes Morgan

The captain of the side, Wes Morgan was ever-present in 2015/16 and spent a further five years at the club, winning the FA Cup in 2021 prior to his retirement.

Christian Fuchs

One of four summer signings who'd feature regularly throughout the 2015/16 seaosn, Christian Fuchs spent six years with the Foxes before joining Charlotte Independence in the USA's USL Championship, moving to MLS expansion side Charlotte FC the following year, retiring a year later.

Riyad Mahrez

Arguably the star of Leicester's title winners, Riyad Mahrez actually spent another two years at the King Power Stadium before moving to Manchester City where he would win four more league titles and the UEFA Champions League.

Mahrez then moved to Saudi side Al-Ahli, where he currently plies his trade.

Danny Drinkwater

Still a regular the season after Leicester's title win, Danny Drinkwater earned a move to Chelsea the following season when his career came off the tracks. Struggling to settle in West London, Drinkwater embarked on a number of moves including Aston Villa, Burnley, Kasimpasa in Turkey and Reading before retiring in October 2023.

N'Golo Kante

Though we didn't know it at the time, we were watching one of the midfielders of a generation in N'Golo Kante at Leicester. Sure enough, he was snapped up by Chelsea the year after their title win, spending seven years at Stamford Bridge before moving to Saudi side Al-Ittihad, where he's spent the last two seasons.

Marc Albrighton

After Leicester's title win, Marc Albrighton played on for another six years as a useful member of Leicester squads before spending a year on loan with West Bromwich Albion.

Albrighton returned for their Championship-winning campaign of 2023/24, retiring at the end of the season.

Jamie Vardy

The man whose goals fired Leicester to the Premier League title. Plying his trade with National League side Fleetwood just four years earlier, Jamie Vardy became an immovable part of Leicester furniture, playing more than 400 league games for the club.

Still a regular this season, Vardy has announced he will finally leave the club after 13 years at the King Power.

Shinji Okazaki

Despite scoring just five times in Leicester's title-winning season, Shinji Okazaki played 36 times and made 28 starts for the Foxes, giving a good idea of how highly valued he was by Claudio Ranieri.

After leaving Leicester in 2019, Okazaki played for Huesca, Cartagena and Sint-Truiden before retiring at the end of last season.
