When is England's September/October squad announced?

England will play four Nations League matches in a new look three-week international break.

For the first time in a long time, clubs will only have to contend with four international breaks -- as oppose to the usual five -- as changes to FIFA's calendar has seen the mergence of the traditional September and October breaks.

These changes mean that the break from Premier League and Championship football will last for three weeks, allowing enough time for England to play four games.

The Three Lions were last in action when dismantling France 6-4 in the World Cup third-place playoff, just days after their heartbreaking semi-final loss to Argentina.

Attentions now turn to the Nations League, where promotion back to League A sees England open their campaign against World Cup winners Spain at Wembley.

Thomas Tuchel will then take his squad to Eastern Europe to play away matches against Czechia and Croatia, all before returning to London to battle the Czechs for the second time in eight days.

But when does the German tactician announce his squad? We take a look...

When is the England squad announced?

Tuchel will officially name his squad at 10:00 BST on Friday 18th September.

Key decisions are set to centre around a number of injured players that were involved at the World Cup. Newcastle duo Dan Burn and Tino Livramento, as well as Chelsea midfielder Jordan Henderson will not be available for selection.

Myles Lewis-Skelly, Cole Palmer and Alex Scott are all pushing for recalls off the back of fine starts to their season at club level, and it will be interesting to see whether or not Ollie Watkins' move to Saudi Arabia will harm his England credentials.

The Three Lions are among the favourites to win the UEFA Nations League at 9/2.
