After a record-breaking season, Bruno Fernandes is expected to win the 2025/26 PFA Players' Player of the Year award.
In the early stages of the season, Erling Haaland was fancied to collect a second award after netting 14 times in his first 11 games, but with Manchester City struggling and the goals drying up somewhat, an Arsenal player -- be it Gabriel, Bukayo Saka or Declan Rice -- looked well placed to take the honour.
Arsenal themselves wobbled and no one player has overly shone for them throughout the campaign in the way Mohamed Salah, Phil Foden and Haaland have done in recent years.
The thought of a Manchester United player winning the award seemed impossible at the halfway point of the season, but the removal of Ruben Amorim from his role as head coach has substantially turned the side's fortunes around.
The reintroduction of Kobbie Mainoo to midfield allowed Bruno Fernandes to return to his more favoured number 10 position, and the Portuguese maestro has since broken a record first set by Thierry Henry in 2002/03, and later matched by Kevin De Bruyne in 2019/20, in laying on 21 assists.
Fernandes has thus far claimed several awards for his efforts, including the Premier League Player of the season, the FWA Footballer of the Year, a third straight Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year and a second consecutive Manchester United Players' Player of the Year.
Despite the season finishing, Fernandes will have to wait until next term to find out if he's won the PFA Player of the Year, with the award not due to be handed out until August, with an exact date still TBC.
In 2025, the award was presented at a PFA awards ceremony on Tuesday 19th August, shortly after the season began, and similar is expected for the 2026 prize.
