Signed by Manchester United in 2023 for £55m, Mason Mount's move raised plenty of eyebrows.
Chelsea fans weren't best pleased at Mount's decision not to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge, while United fans were bemused as to why the club would spend so much money on a player with 12 months left on his contract, particularly given his preference to operate as a number 10, with the club already employing Bruno Fernandes.
Mount had shown plenty of talent during his time with Chelsea, winning the UEFA Champions League in 2021, recording 21 Premier League goal contributions the following season.
His final season in West London saw a downturn in form, however. Mount recorded just five goal contributions in 24 appearances, struggling with injury towards the end of the campaign.
Mount's injury issues severely worsened following his move to Old Trafford; the former England man has never started more than four consecutive Premier League games in his three seasons with the Red Devils, and has just 26 league starts to his name.
With Mount struggling so much for fitness, his form has also been impacted, failing to ever make a real impact at the club.
The summer of 2027 will likely see United lose a number of long-standing players, with Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Bruno Fernandes's contracts expiring.
Mount however is set for another year at Old Trafford, with his reported £150,000 a week deal expiring in the summer of 2028.
