Patrick Cantlay is one of the best golfers of his generation, winning eight times on the PGA Tour since getting off the mark in 2017.
After a lengthy struggle with injury, Cantlay played a handful of events in 2017, winning the Shriners Children's Open in November that year.
Eighteen months later, Cantlay cracked the world's top 10 with a stunning performance at the Memorial Tournament to win his second PGA Tour crown.
Cantlay was winless in the COVID-affected 2019/20 season before having the best year of his career in 2021.
As part of the wraparound season, Cantlay won the 2020 ZOZO Championship, then taking the Memorial for a second time. From there, Cantlay went back-to-back at the BMW Championship and Tour Championship, capturing the FedEx Cup and being named PGA Tour Player of the Year.
Cantlay has been remarkably dry since then, however. The 33-year-old won the Zurich Championship alongside best friend Xander Schauffele in 2024, then taking a second BMW Championship title later that year.
August 2022 remains the last time Cantlay won a PGA Tour event, with his last solo win in a regular-season event coming all the way back in June 2021.
The closest Cantlay has come to ending his drought was at the 2025 Tour Championship when sharing the lead with Tommy Fleetwood going into the final round before posting a one-over-par round on Sunday to lose by three.
Cantlay also held a four-shot lead going into the weekend at the 2024 Memorial Tournament and still led by two going into the final round, only to post another one-over-par round on Sunday, losing by four.
