When did Northampton Town last win a competitive game?

Northampton Town will be looking to end their winless run when travelling to Priestfield Stadium to face Gillingham on Saturday afternoon.

After a steady start to the 2025/26 campaign, the Cobblers endured a dismal run that saw them relegated to the fourth tier of English football.

While talk of new owners at Sixfields has sparked excitement amongst Northampton fans, the club have made a winless start to the League Two campaign and fell at the first hurdle in the EFL Cup, losing 1-0 to Leicester City.

With Chris Hogg's side awaiting their first win, and goal, of the 2026/27 campaign, we take a look at the last time that Northampton won a competitive fixture.

When did Northampton Town last win a competitive game?

While Northampton did beat AFC Wimbledon 2-1 in the Football League Trophy on 10th February, their last league win came on 7th February, where they defeated Stevenage 3-1.

It was a victory that ended a nine-game winless run in League One, with Michael Forbes, Tom Eaves and Sam Hoskins on the scoresheet.

Since defeating Stevenage in February, Northampton are without a league win in 18 league games, drawing twice and losing 16 games in this bleak spell.

Northampton have got the longest running winless run in the EFL, and they are priced at 17/10 to end it at Gillingham on Saturday.
