With the news that Jason Steele has been handed his first England call-up we've taken a look at when the goalkeeper last played a Premier League game.
Steele came as a surprise inclusion in Thomas Tuchel's 35-man squad for England's upcoming friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.
The 35-year-old has represented the Three Lions at multiple youth levels and made seven appearances for the U21s between 2010 and 2013 but had never previously been called up for the senior side.
Steele's inclusion in the squad ahead of this summer's World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada was met with some derision on social media, particularly given the fact that he currently plays second fiddle to Dutchman Bart Verbruggen at Brighton.
However, speaking following the squad announcement England manager Tuchel defended the decision, explaining that Steele will travel with the squad this summer to lend his experience and support to the other three goalkeepers.
A product of Middlesbrough's academy, Steele has made over 360 club appearances during his career, but when was his last league appearance?
In the eight years since he joined Brighton from Sunderland Steele has largely served as the second-choice goalkeeper for the Seagulls, though he has often been called upon.
During Roberto De Zerbi's spell in charge Steele enjoyed a sustained spell as the club's first-choice goalkeeper, and he made a career-best 17 Premier League appearances in 2022-23 as they finished sixth - qualifying for European football for the first time in the process.
Since Fabian Hurzeler's arrival Steele has found his first-team opportunities limited, though he has added to his tally when Verbruggen has been unavailable.
The most recent of Steele's Premier League appearances came in the second game of the 2024-25 campaign as goals from Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro saw Brighton beat Manchester United 2-1 at the Amex.
This season Steele has made five appearances in all competitions, most recently in Brighton's 3-0 defeat by Liverpool in the fourth round of the FA Cup last month.
