West Ham and Wrexham are both eyeing promotion next season, and have started to identify targets to strengthen their squad for the fight.
Football League World are reporting that the two clubs have chosen the same target - former Manchester United man Ethan Galbraith - to improve their central midfield options.
Wrexham are looking to add quality to a side that finished seventh and two points away from a Championship play-off berth last campaign, while West Ham are in the midst of a rebuild with plenty of outgoings and incomings all over the pitch, following their relegation from the Premier League.
The Swans signed Galbraith just a year ago, parting with a reported £1.6m fee to lure him from Leyton Orient, and he has developed into a highly capable midfielder who can also deputise at right-back across 39 appearances last term.
Since making one senior appearance for the Red Devils against Kazakh side in the 2019/20 Europa League, he had spells on loan at Doncaster Rovers and Salford City before his permanent switch to Orient.
Galbraith has also featured 16 times for his nation, including a substitution appearance in their 3-1 loss to France on Monday evening, displaying his experience and maturity as a player with his prime years still ahead of him.
Back in April it was reported that the Northern Irishman had turned down a contract offer from the South Wales club, as they looked to capitalise on his strong form by extending beyond the two years and one-year extra option that remained. The offer was seemingly far short of what some of Swansea's top earners were taking home.
This development alerted Wrexham, who have allegedly been keeping tabs on Galbraith since the back end of the Championship season, though with no decisive action taken, newly-relegated West Ham have stepped into the race.
Neither club have attempted to tempt Swansea with an offer for the Glengormley-born midfielder just yet, but it will be one to keep an eye on as the two promotion hopefuls circle.
