West Ham United are reportedly close to signing Celtic's star midfielder Arne Engels, who played a key role in their dramatic Scottish Premiership title win last season.
Nuno Espirito Santo's side have been preparing for life back in the Championship after their relegation last season, though - barring making Keibar Lamadrid's loan permanent - they are yet to make a first team signing this summer.
With six first team players having already left West Ham, netting them around £150m in transfer fees, attention has now turned to incomings, as they look to replace the likes of Matheus Fernandes, Crysencio Summerville and Callum Wilson.
Now, according to transfer guru Matteo Moretto via X, they are 'close' to securing the signing of Celtic's Arne Engels, with a fee north of £20m touted.
The Belgian, who came through the youth ranks at Club Brugge, has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs this summer, including Tottenham Hotspur, but now looks set for a stint in the Championship.
Since joining Celtic in 2024 for a reported €13m, the 22 year-old has made 98 appearances, scoring 17 goals and registering 21 assists from central midfield.
Possessing strong versatility, Engels has also featured at both full back positions, on either side of the wing, as well as at both attacking and defensive midfield throughout his career to date.
Should the move go through, the five-cap Belgian international would be the first new face in the door at the London Stadium, as Nuno looks to reshape his squad ahead of a vital season in the second tier.
For Celtic, attention will now turn to securing a replacement for the talismanic midfielder, as they look to fend off Hearts and Rangers to win yet another Scottish Premiership title.
