Wantaway West Ham star in talks with Lazio

Lazio are one of several Serie A teams said to be in talks with West Ham over a move for Niclas Fullkrug.

The German international has largely failed to live up to his £27million price tag at West Ham and is expected to leave the club this summer following their relegation to the Championship.

Fullkrug still has two years remaining on the four-year contract he signed on his arrival at the London Stadium in the summer of 2024.

According to a report from Nicolò Schira, Lazio are in talks with the Hammers surrounding a potential season-long loan deal for the 33-year-old.

The deal would reportedly also include an option for Lazio to purchase Fullkrug permanently next summer for €5million (£4.3m).

Fullkrug is no stranger to life in the Italian top flight, having spent the latter half of last season on loan at AC Milan.

During his time at the San Siro he made 20 appearances and scored once.

Lazio are not the only team in the hunt to sign the striker this summer, however.

Genoa are also said to be interested in signing Fullkrug, but the Biancocelesti are said to be leading the race to secure his signature at present.

Prior to joining West Ham Fullkrug enjoyed a prolific spell in his native Germany and was crowned the Bundesliga top goalscorer in 2022-23 during his time at Werder Bremen.
