West Bromwich Albion are reportedly set to complete the permanent signing of highly-rated defender Carter Pinnington.
Born on Merseyside, Pinnington joined the Liverpool Academy at under-7 level and has gone on to represent England at under-15, under-16 and under-18 level.
In October 2025, Pinnington was named in Liverpool's first team for the first time when they played Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup.
Described as a commanding centre-half, who can also play as a holding midfielder, the 19-year-old now looks set to depart his boyhood club.
Journalist Pete O'Rourke has reported that West Brom have won the race to secure Pinnington's signature.
While some would have expected the defender to experience some loan spells early on in his career, the deal in question would be a permanent one as the Baggies look to strengthen this summer.
Following recent reports West Brom are also closing in on the capture of Chelsea's Jimmy-Jay Morgan, it appears head coach James Morrison is targeting young top-flight talent as he aims to make his mark at the Hawthorns.
The Baggies finished 21st in the Championship last season and after getting the job on a permanent basis, Morrison looks like he has already identified his targets as he looks to oversee a vast improvement in 2026/27.
