Betting has been suspended on Vinicus Junior's next club with the Real Madrid star expected to ink a fresh contract in the Spanish capital.
According to David Ornstein, Los Blancos chiefs recently put forward a fresh proposal to their 26-year-old that "reflects his importance" at the club, amidst heavy speculation that Arsenal could be eyeing up a move.
Vinicius' current deal is set to expire next summer and he seemingly had three options: run his contract down and become a free agent in 12 months, pursue a move to Arsenal or put pen to paper on Madrid's new bumper offer.
It was always likely that common ground would be found between his representatives and Madrid chiefs, with reports now stating that fresh terms are all but agreed.
"We have decided to pull down our Vinicius Junior next club market after some lumpy wagers at 1/8, together with the reports that he has agreed a new deal at the Bernabeu, had us waving the white flag," Steve Freeth said.
Arsenal had been hoping to take advantage of Vinicius Junior's stand-off with the La Liga side by prizing the Brazilian sensation to the Premier League this month.
The left side of the Gunners attack is an area where Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen this summer and the likes of Nico Williams and Kenan Yildiz have already been linked with the club.
Vinicius Junior is arguably the best player in the world in his position and is a three-time La Liga winner and a two-time UEFA Champions League winner with Los Blancos.
However, despite their attempts, and hopes, it's growing increasingly likely that the Londoners will be forced to turn their attentions elsewhere in their hunt for fresh attacking talent.
