A shower of runs soaked the Pakistan bowling attack as Brook put on a 454-run partnership with fellow Yorkshireman Joe Root.
Where Root was dismissed for 262, Brook charged on to become only the sixth England player in Test history to score a triple century, eventually reaching 317 before his relentless assault concluded when his sweep was caught by Shan Masood.
It was the first time since Graham Gooch in 1990 that an England player had breached the 300 mark and it was the fifth-highest individual score of any Englishman in a Test match.
Brian Lara's remarkable unbeaten 400 remains the highest-ever individual score in a Test innings and remains the only quadruple to date.
The tally surpassed the previous record he set in 1994, coincidentally against England, where he scored 375 at Antigua's Recreation Ground.
Lara is one of four players to score more than one triple hundred, with Don Bradman, Virender Sehwag and Chris Gayle also accomplishing the feat.
