Naomi Osaka v Karolina Muchova Prediction, Tips and Bet Builder

After beating top seed Aryna Sabalenka in the fourth round, Naomi Osaka now has her sights set on a semi-final place as she prepares to face Karolina Muchova.

The Japanese star had never previously progressed past the third round at Wimbledon, but is looking more like the player with four Grand Slam titles to her name.

However, she faces a player in Muchova who is ranked above her and has dropped just one set en route to this stage.

Osaka, though, is looking strong, and her experience of winning the big events could prove key in what should be a close encounter.

Naomi Osaka v Karolina Muchova Prediction

Best Bet - Naomi Osaka to win the match @ 4/5

It has been five years since Osaka won her last Grand Slam title at the 2021 Australian Open, and there have been questions about whether she could get back to the very top.

In her 13 major appearances since that Melbourne success, the world number 14 has only passed round four on one occasion - making the semi-final at last year's US Open.

Osaka has reached the third round at Wimbledon three times, but this is the furthest she has made it at SW19.

The Japanese ace has never won a grass-court tournament before, but she has looked at home on the surface over the last week.

Muchova has also impressed after a recent poor run at Wimbledon, failing to progress past the first round in the last four years.

But the Czech right-hander had reached the quarter-finals twice (2019 and 2021) before that run, showing her capabilities on this surface.

However, Osaka is in inspired form and is tipped to make the last four at SW19.

Alternative Bet - Total Sets - 3 Sets @ 11/10

Osaka has reached the quarter-finals without losing a set, highlighting just how well she has played in the first four rounds.

Muchova has dropped only one set at this stage, and that came in her fourth-round victory over fellow Czech Barbora Krejcikova.

However, you only have to look at the previous meetings between these two to see how closely matched they have been.

There have been six matches between the pair, with three going all the way to three sets.

In five of those six encounters, Muchova has won the first set, including in last year's clash at the Australian Open.

Naomi Osaka v Karolina Muchova Bet Builder Tip

  • Naomi Osaka to win 2-1

  • Naomi Osaka 5+ Aces

  • Karolina Muchova 3+ Double Faults

Pays 17/2

A straight-sets win over world number one Sabalenka was a big statement to the rest of the ladies' draw, with Osaka breaking her opponent on two occasions, and she can triumph again.

One of the key factors of that Centre Court success was her service game, firing down eight aces to her opponent's five.

The 28-year-old, who has been supported this week by family, also served just one double fault in the 88-minute match.

Muchova, who ranks five places above Osaka in the WTA service rankings, served four double faults in her second-round match and then two against Krejcikova.

With the pressure likely to be on the 10th seed and, on a show court, the 3+ double fault target looks achievable.
